...Not that the majority of you care. I live in Western Australia, 2 hours and 20 years behind the rest of Australia as my Dad says. So yeah, we had a referendum on Saturday to vote on Daylight Savings. It was shot down with an impressive win to the 'no' vote.

I don't care enough either way to have strong emotions over the result.

And it is compulsory to vote when you're over the age of 18, but apparently a lot didn't (somehow).

Here's a story. I have to make a current affairs news piece with another person from my class, and we chose to do it on an extraordinarily busy intersection in South Perth. She's the reporter and I'm the presenter and cameraperson.

I did the presenting last Thursday, on a day when I got shot down with a tummy bug or mild food poisoning, I'm not quite sure (I'm better now). So there I am presenting my piece to camera, white as a sheet and trying not to throw up. It was awful.

Anywho, I live in North Perth (North of the river), and the intersection is busiest at 8am, so it's impossible for me to get there (I don't drive yet). So, I rent out the equipment needed and pick it up Thursday afternoon and then my partner, who lives south of the river, dropped me off at ~Sabaku-chan's house.

I stayed the night at Carol's place and then my partner picked me up from her place the next morning and we went to go shoot our stuff. Needless to say, nothing went right, except for the fact that we both knew what we wanted from the shoot. She knew her lines and I knew how to work the camera.

And the camera was the only thing that worked.

-First: For the first time EVER, my partner said, the intersection was not packed...only mildly congested.

-Second: I stick the headphones in the camera, only one side works (Has it happened with your I-Pod, isn't it annoying?), which was not handy when you had a semi-busy road behind you.

-Third: The lapel mic is working for the run through, but a millisecond before I press record for the proper take, it goes on the fritz. And I mean that literally, my finger was TOUCHING the record button, I just had to press it down. But me, in all my greatness, had hired out a hand-held mic for that 'just in case' scenario. Okay, Me and Nicky have done one good take and about to do another, when the camera starts tilting.

So cue:
-Fouth: One of the tripod legs wouldn't stay up (cue Linus' scream of frustration). I had to hold it up while I filmed.

So, all in all I had a crappy Friday-not-the-13th. I had bad stomach pains, I had a runny nose, the location wasn't holding up, and the equipment was faulty. Thank God the camera actually worked!!! I made the lack of traffic though, I worked that camera!!

I haven't seen the Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince trailer yet, I'm waiting till I go to the movies and see the preview. Something about a big screen and surround sound makes everything better.

We got a new puppy, she's a beagle/cavalier cross but she looks exactly like a beagle (Though not like Snoopy). Her name is Ally, shortened from the band 'Alesana', a heavy metal group my sister likes o_O

Advice: Don't name a pet after a heavy metal band.

Ally is friggin' insane!!! She was an inside dog, but now she's an outside dog. She had ADHD or something, she's hyper!! And a biter!! Well...a gnawer. And she pees as soon as you let her inside. EVERYTIME!! You try and sweep outside, she's chewing on the broom. You try and hang out the washing, she's sitting in between your feet. Trying to get dirty undies off her is not a task I like.

"Alllllly, give me the dirty undies!! Come on girl, I need those dirty undies."

God, I hope my neighbours didn't hear!!

Do a good deed once a day (more, if the urge arises). I'm losing faith in humanity, give me a reason to love our species again!! I'm doing the Salvation Army Door Knock Appeal this weekend...or when I find the time between the 23rd of May and 1thingth of June. Knocking on every door in my street. Apparently they do that now, the Salvation Army calls someone on the street, asks if you want to do it, and sends you the stuff to do it with (that sounds so wrong out of context).

I had a Disney lecture for my 'English and the Media' unit last week. This guy was saying how Disney was a brainwashing cult that re-writes history, citing Pocahontas as his example. I, Defender of the Diz and Queen of the Cartoon, would not let this stand :salute:

I argued that Pocahontas does not re-write history, just bends it for story-telling effect. Because Pocahontas was a real woman (if ya'll didn't know) and she met and saved John Smith when he and his men landed near their settlement. Disney created the romance (there was none) because in real life, Pocahontas was about 12. So in the movie, they aged her a bit too. I then argued that Disney was only telling PART of the story during the movie, that it didn't erase her moving and marriage to another English man, it saved it for another movie.

Then this guy said that they shouldn't change anything, that kids need to know about the pain and suffering.

My response was:

"Yes, but not when they are 7, 8 or 9."

Then this guy said that Disney was teaching our kids the wrong things. My response:

"If you're so worried about what your kids are learning from a movie, spend some time with them and don't let movies replace parenting. Sit down with your kids and tell them the inaccuracies of the movie."

I love Disney, can you tell?
